About
Melbourne Insight Meditation (MIM) is a community of meditators practicing in the tradition of Insight (Vipassana) Meditation. We aim to support each other and develop our practice. We offer weekly guided meditation sits on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and meditation retreats and workshops throughout the year. We welcome beginners or experienced meditators to join us. Acknowledgement of Country Melbourne Insight Meditation acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia. We recognise sovereignty was never ceded and the continuing connection of indigenous peoples to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to Indigenous people, their cultures, and to elders past, present and emerging. |

Winter Solstice Gathering 2-5pm, Saturday 22nd June, Stanley Ave Studio Get together for a special day of gratitude for life’s rich offerings coinciding with this year’s winter solstice: the day of the year that has the least daylight hours of any in the year! This event aims to raise funds for MIM’s Retreat Scholarship Fund so that we can supported places for each retreat for those who suffer genuine financial hardship. The afternoon will include: - 1 hr live musical performance by Colombian musician, Pablo Naranjo, playing acoustic music from his two albums “Echos del frio” and ‘Orbeum’ - an artist talk and exhibition of Hartmut Veit’s paintings informed by his meditation practice - a 30min meditation - an opportunity to get to know one another - chai provided Invite your friends, family and kids are welcome! Through mindfulness of body we will investigate and bring insight to patterns and habits that get in the way of skillful communication and action. This workshop is an experiential exploration of what happens in our internal world when we are triggered into a reactive state, and how we can use awareness of body, feelings and mind states to cultivate skillful responses. The workshop will include: mindfulness practice in the context of conflict; practical exploration of difficult feelings and mind states; experiential exercises and demonstrations with participants.
