Melbourne Insight Meditation

Melbourne Insight Meditation (MIM) is a community of meditators practicing in the tradition of Insight (Vipassana) Meditation. We aim to support each other and develop our practice. We welcome beginners or experienced meditators to join us.

CERES Meditation

Monday Nights

Venue
CERES Learning Centre, Lee Street, East Brunswick

Note: Enter by walking to the end of Lee Street (Learning Centre is on the right, past courtyard garden), not by Robert Street main entry

Time
7.15pm, for a prompt 7.30pm start - 9.00pm

Cost & Booking
$5 plus dana donation to visiting teachers appreciated. No need to book, just turn up.

Equipment provided
Meditation cushions
(zafus), floor mats (zabutons), chairs, meditation benches/stools, yoga mats and blankets

We sit every Monday except Public Holidays, Melbourne Cup eve and Christmas/January break. Our next sit is 14th January 2019.

Yoga is offered by donation before our sit from 6.00-7.00pm to support practice. Yoga only runs during the school term. 

All levels of meditation (and yoga) experience welcome, including beginners.

Weekly Sitting Groups

All levels of experience are welcome, no previous training is needed, and guidance is offered. Each session includes:

• Sitting meditation (with instruction)
• Walking meditation (with instruction)
• Dharma talks with visiting teachers
• Group discussion/sharing with visiting teachers

Please note: The meditation practice may not be suitable for those who have experienced psychosis or who are currently experiencing acute depression. If in doubt, please seek advice from a psychologist or psychiatrist.  

East Malvern Meditation

Entry free of charge; with dana donations to MIM, the visiting teachers and BSV appreciated. No need to book, just turn up.

Equipment provided
Meditation cushions (zafus), floor mats (zabutons), chairs, some blankets.


All levels of meditation experience welcome, including beginners.

We sit every Wednesday except Public Holidays, Easter Wednesday and Christmas/January break. Our final sit for 2018 is on the 19th December. We start back on the 9th January 2019.

While we run our retreats on a tight budget (costs cover accommodation, food, teachers' travel costs and administration only), we do offer a supported place for each retreat. Please contact us if you are in genuine financial hardship, and wish to discuss this option.

This event offers a space of shared quiet and reflection to deeply rest in stillness and silence. This is an ideal opportunity for you to explore a Dharma practice, whether you are new to meditation or you are wishing to deepen your understanding.

Stillness and silence are profound experiences that allow for our body, mind and hearts to open and deeply connect with ourselves and the world around us.

The afternoon will include guided sitting meditations, walking meditation, a dharma talk and an opportunity for questions.
